eekual Bionic GmbH, makers of blang*blang sneakers, was founded in 2018 by William Lyons, an international architect, in Cologne, Germany. The similarity in how the underlying structures function in both buildings and the human body prompted his fascination with individual measurement. He was later joined by Maximilian Bock, a specialist in optical feedback mechanisms, who has a PhD in Physics from the University of Cambridge.
It’s one thing to dream of an algorithm which will measure the internal and external properties of an individual’s body - and quite another to finalize it’s development. But it’s been done and there is no other like it. It’s one thing to dream of creating such affordable sneakers in a small 30 square meter space - and quite another to develop the robotic and AI tools to make them. But it’s been done and there is none other like it.
William and Maximilian have hand-picked 20 experts globally to encompass all the skills necessary from moving atoms to moving products in the market. Their skills span a range from AI/machine learning, robotics, mechatronics to design, and personalized marketing and sales. In 2022 they were joined by Charles Greene, an experienced marketing creative. Charles has helped create many brands, including such iconic household names as Dr. Best, OdolMed 3, Cetebe, FruchtZwerge, Obstgarten, Contramutan, Priorin, Punica, Vizir, Sheba, Skoda.
We are now beginning to fulfill the dream that began in 2018. We are more than ever committed to building a company that will make us – and our children – proud. We intend to revolutionize the way clothing is made and worn.

As a deep tech startup, we are looking for software engineers who enjoy versatile challenges and take pride in their work. Our stack includes web, app, and digital design of fashion goods, specifically:
- app: Ionic-based iOS and Android mobile applications;
- web: homepage and lab;
- backend: API, and other services;
- infra: infrastructure related configs (e.g. nginx).
Requirements
Confidence in working with web and mobile applications.
Experience in working in the named software stack.

Sneaker builder
Description
As a sneaker builder you build sneakers for real people - from start to finish :-)
English speaking work environment. Flexible hours. Make amazing things with your hands.
Materials such as leather and sole are cut on machines. It is your job to put all parts together using various machines and tools. You follow a digital workflow on your phone while doing the physical work.

Parametric sneaker designer
Description
Our sneakers are created in digital space and then output to reality. The design is parametric, i. e. it starts with a few points in 3D space. It is your job to create and upgrade sneaker designs and translate their beauty into our parametric world.
This is the very cutting edge of product design.
Requirements
Stellar design skills. Technical mindset.
Our parametric interface is Fusion 360. You need to know or learn this software.
You need to work in English.
Setting
Scope: flexible hours, flexible work times.
Contract: initially freelance, if successful, mid term full time fixed employment.
Location: Global. Ability to come to our nano factory in Köln Ehrenfeld a plus.

CNC enthusiast
Description
Our core production tool is a 3 axis CNC mill. We drive it via Fusion360. We use the CNC mill for prototyping nano factory components, as well as for regular sneaker production. Your principal responsibilities are creating digital models in Fusion360 and outputting them to the CNC mill. We also use laser and 3D print technologies.
Requirements
Technical mindset. You love to tinker with machines and the software controlling them.
Specifically, you need to have initial knowledge in CNC milling and in Fusion360 or similar.
You need to work in English.
Setting
Scope: 8-20 hours/week, flexible work times.
Contract: flexible (working student / freelance / mini-job). Mid term full time fixed employment possible.
